TuneCore sales report vs trends: what's the difference?

TuneCore shows your numbers in two places: Trends and Sales Reports. They rarely match, and that's expected. Trends show early activity; the Sales Report is the record stores send for payment. Here's how to read the one that counts.

Where to find the report

  1. Log in to TuneCore and open Money & Reports.
  2. Choose Sales Reports.
  3. Pick the period you want and download the CSV.
  4. Repeat each month — overlapping periods are fine on AudiMetr.

The columns that matter

Sales PeriodThe month the store assigned the activity to.
Posted DateWhen TuneCore added the row to your account.
Store NameThe platform the activity came from.
Artist / Release / Song TitleWhich artist and track the row belongs to.
Units / QuantityHow many plays, downloads or uses the row represents.
CountryWhere the listeners were.
Total EarnedWhat the row paid. Private on AudiMetr.

Column names can change slightly between report versions.

Trends: fast, but not final

Trends help you spot what's moving soon after release. They're early data, not a payment statement, and may not include every store.

Sales Reports: the official record

Sales Reports list what stores reported for payment, by period. This is the right source for totals you want to show others.

Compare by sales period

Group rows by Sales Period, not posted date, and compare only periods that have fully arrived.

Filter by type before adding up

Sales Reports mix streams with downloads and other uses. Summing every unit mixes things that aren't streams.

Skip the spreadsheet

Upload your TuneCore report exactly as downloaded. AudiMetr groups every row by platform, country, track and month, and adds up one audited total across every store.

  • Original reports only — nothing estimated
  • Duplicate rows ignored automatically
  • Unknown row types flagged, never counted as streams
  • Earnings stay private

Questions

Which TuneCore number is the official one?

The Sales Report. Trends are early activity data meant to show direction; the Sales Report is the statement of what stores reported for payment.

Why are my Trends higher or lower than my Sales Report?

Trends arrive faster and may not cover every store. Sales Reports come later and can include adjustments. They measure different things at different times.

Can I upload Trends to AudiMetr?

AudiMetr is built for original sales reports, so the totals you share are based on payment statements, not early estimates.

Do I need to edit the CSV?

No. Upload it exactly as downloaded. Duplicate rows are ignored if you upload overlapping periods.
