Your CD Baby sales report, explained
CD Baby's sales report lists what stores reported for your music — streams, downloads and more, all in one file. Here's how to download it, what the columns mean, and how to pull out your real stream total.
Where to find the report
- Log in to CD Baby and open Accounting.
- Choose Sales Reports.
- Pick the period and download the report as CSV.
- Download new periods regularly to keep your totals current.
The columns that matter
| Sales Period / Date | The period the store assigned the activity to. |
|---|---|
| Partner / Store | The platform the activity came from. |
| Artist / Album / Track | Which artist and track the row belongs to. |
| Sale Type | Whether the row is a stream, download or another kind of sale. |
| Quantity | How many plays, downloads or units the row represents. |
| Country | Where the listeners or buyers were. |
| Earnings | What the row paid. Private on AudiMetr. |
Column names can change slightly between report versions.
Separate streams from everything else
Downloads and other sale types sit next to streams. Filter by sale type before adding up plays.
Expect a reporting delay
Stores send data to CD Baby after the fact, so the latest periods fill in over time.
Group by sales period
Use the sales period to see when listening happened, not the date the row was added.
Many stores, one total
CD Baby delivers to many platforms. Your report usually shows more total plays than any single platform's own stats app.
Skip the spreadsheet
Upload your CD Baby report exactly as downloaded. AudiMetr groups every row by platform, country, track and month, and adds up one audited total across every store.
- Original reports only — nothing estimated
- Duplicate rows ignored automatically
- Unknown row types flagged, never counted as streams
- Earnings stay private

Questions
Does the CD Baby report include physical sales?
It can, depending on what you sell through CD Baby. Physical and download rows are not streams, so keep them separate when counting plays.
Why do recent months look low?
Stores report to CD Baby with a delay, so recent periods fill in over later reports.
I have several artists on one CD Baby account. Does that work?
Yes. Rows are matched to the right artist, and manager accounts can keep a separate page for each one.
Do I need to edit the CSV?
No. Upload it exactly as downloaded. Duplicate rows are ignored automatically.
